Indications that the international friendly game between Nigeria and DR Congo will be played at the Adokie Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt on May 28, became a reality on Sunday night, following the payment for a charter jet to bring the visitors into the country on May 28.
SportingLife.ng gathered exclusively that chieftains of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have begun processing the aircraft’s landing permit and immigration formalities to ensure a smooth passage of the DR Congo contingent comprising the players, coaches, backroom staff and others into Port Harcourt and out of the Garden City to Kinshaha after the international friendly game.
SportingLife.ng scooped DR Congo contingent won’t be paid apperances fees, having signed an agreement where it was stated expressly that the NFF would pay for the aircraft, their accommodation and feeding, instead of apperance fees which would have been settled in hard currencies.
Indeed, the DR Congo game against the Super Eagles in Port Harcourt is a farewell tie meant to allow Nigerians watch their ambassadors to the Russia 2018 World Cup beginning with the opening game against Croatia on June 16.
The Nigerian players are expected to be in the country on May 20 and head straight to Uyo where they would train for six days before heading for Port Harcourt on May 26 for the game against DR Congo two days later.
