Inter’s Lautaro release clause expired amid Arsenal, Atletico interest

Arsenal and Atletico Madrid are still interested in Inter’s Lautaro Martinez, but the release clause of the Argentinean striker has expired.

Inter need to balance the books and have already sold Achraf Hakimi for €71m to PSG to do so.

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi and director Beppe Marotta have denied that another Nerazzurri star will leave this summer, but Arsenal and Atletico Madrid are keeping tabs on Lautaro Martinez.

The Argentinean sees his contract expire in June 2023 and the Nerazzurri have been in talks to extend his stay at the club for a long time, but without reaching an agreement yet.

Although Arsenal are interested, the player would only leave Inter for a Spanish side, having been so close to Barcelona last year, according to reports in Spain.

Lautaro has a €111m release clause included in his contract with Inter, but according to Calciomercato.com, it expired in July.

The release clause, in fact, can only be activated in the first two weeks of July, so any club interested in signing Lautaro, must negotiate with Inter and the asking price would be circa €80-90m for the Scudetto and Copa America winner.
