Kelvin Gastelum has confessed Nigeria-Born Mixed Martial Artist Fighter, Israel ‘The Last Stylebender’ Adesanya was better than him after their grueling fight on Saturday night. The American also congratulated Adesanya and hoped they would meet again in the octagon in the future.
Gastelum lost the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) interim middleweight title by a unanimous decision after all three judges scored the five-round bout for the New Zealand based Adesanya with all three scorecards reading 48-46, including 10-8 marks in the decisive fifth round.
Gastelum said on Twitter: “I left it all out there. Adesanya was the better man last night! Congratulations to him. I know our paths will cross again!

This set back as well as all my other setbacks have made me a better person and mixed martial artist. I am so excited for the future.”

Gastelum handed undefeated Adesanya the toughest fight so far in his career and knocked him down early in the first round before the Nigerian rallied round in the second and third round. Gastelum surprised Adesanya in the fourth round with a left head kick but could not finish Adesanya before he was beaten to a bloody mess in the final 30 seconds when he was floored twice but he refused to quit and was lucky to see the final horn.
Adesanya, who is the 10th fighter in UFC history to win a belt with an undefeated record will now face undisputed middleweight champion Robert Whittaker to unify the belts. Whittaker was forced to withdraw from a title defense with Gastelum earlier this year because of a hernia surgery.
