Israel tops medal table at Ju-Jitsu European Championship

Top athletes from all over Europe gathered in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, to compete at the 2024 European Championship in different disciplines of Ju-Jitsu. Notably, this year’s championship featured Inclusive Self Defence and Para Jiu-Jitsu events for the first time.

As the official international federation for various forms of Ju-Jitsu, including fighting, Jiu-Jitsu (Ne-Waza), Duo System, and Show System, the JJIF once again demonstrated its dedication to promoting this martial art on a global platform.

Ju-Jitsu International Federation (JJIF) President Panagiotis Theodoropoulos said, “We are delighted with the success and diversity of this event. Ju-Jitsu is a sport that welcomes everyone, and we are proud to demonstrate that through our inclusive categories.”

Expert Elcirley Paz Silva played a crucial role in promoting adaptive jiu-jitsu globally and lent his support to the Para Jiu-Jitsu category at the championship. His presence further showcases JJIF’s commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion within the sport.

Israel and France topped the medal table with seven gold medals, but Israel was first due to 3 more silver medals than France. Germany was third with six gold medals.
