Iwobi’s confidence is growing with me in charge–Emery

Arsenal manager Unai Emery says he is satisfied with the confidence of Alex Iwobi which is growing by the day since taking charge at the Emirates.

The Spanaird replaced the iconic Arsene Wenger last summer and has since undergone a respectable first campaign.

“Maybe [Sead] Kolasinac, he is improving. [Alex] Iwobi, Bernd Leno also is taking little by little more confidence and is stronger in the goal.”

The Spaniard has won 29 of his 46 games in charge of Arsenal and took a major step forward in returning the club to a top-four finish in the Premier League following Monday’s 2-0 win against Newcastle.

Emery has also named  Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi as the most improved players in his squad.

Both midfielders have become key members at Arsenal in light of an impressive first season of English football.

“We are 25 players, and can only play 11, 18 in the squad, it’s very difficult to give everyone an opportunity to improve,” Emery told Copa 90.

“There are some players maybe you can see this year this improvement – Lucas Torreira, Matteo (Guendouzi).

“The first time in the Premier League, in this difficult competition, and they are improving I think well.

“Maybe also sometimes the experienced players help them to do better, with their adaptation to the Premier [League].

He also acknowledged his strike duo Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

Both have a combined total of 37 goals and 18 assists for Arsenal this season.

“Also, Aubameyang is scoring goals as we want,” said Emery.

“Lacazette also is doing more of a role, and I think now Mesut (Ozil) is working very well.

Arsenal will return to action on Sunday for a trip to Goodison Park, where 10th-place side Everton will be awaiting them in a Premier League encounter.
