Joe Aribo Returns with Mixed Feelings after Nigeria Debut
Joe Aribo may have had to return to his club with a
mixed feelings
after his debut for the Super Eagles of Nigeria on Tuesday, Sportinglife.ng has learnt.
Though the debut will go memory lane in sweet savoury for the Nigeria international as it didn’t take him long to open a goal account in the high profile match-up.
It took the 23-year-old just three minutes to score his first international goal in the showdown against against Andriy Shevchenko’s men in Dnipro.
But, almost 24-hours after the friendly the Rangers star made known his mind about his experience playing for Nigeria for the first time, and the eventual outcome of the FIFA window game.
Aribo had reflected that the Super Eagles wanted to win the match just as the Ukrainians had planned an upset, stating that this was evident in the quality of play in the 90-minute encounter.
Aribo was among the four newly-invited players for the showdown and was upbeat of Eagles victory with a “buzz”.
But in a post online the star player had to describe the outcome of the match which ended in 2-2 as “unfortunate”

Recall that Everton’s Alex Iwobi set up Aribo in the middle of the park, before Nigeria went 2-0 ahead thanks to a penalty from Victor Osimhen ten minutes from half-time.
Aribo moved to Ibrox in the summer after leaving Charlton and has scored four goals for Steven Gerrard’s side since his arrival.
