Jorginho reveals his Balon D’or vote

 

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has revealed who his vote for the 2021 Balon D’or will be going to and how he has tried to bring his own playing style to the Premier League.

The Italian midfielder is a candidate for the award himself after helping Chelsea to Champions League success last season before picking up the Euro’s with the national side in the summer.

The likes of Lionel Messi, Karim Benzema, Robert Lewandowski and Mohamed Salah are all thought to be front runners for the award alongside Jorginho with the debate on who should win raging amongst fans.

Whilst the Chelsea midfielder may not have the best individual season compared to some of the other names up for the award, his team achievements are impressive.

Speaking to ESPN Brazil (via Eurosport), Jorginho revealed his vote would go to a Premier League rival.

“If I don’t vote for me, who will vote? I want to have at least one vote! Just kidding.

“I believe I’d vote for Kevin de Bruyne for everything he’s been doing and for the beautiful football he’s been showing in recent years. For those who like football, it’s great to see him play because he understands football, he is a player with above-average intelligence.”

The Italian was also asked how he’s has adapted the the Premier League physical nature since his arrival from Napoli in 2018.

“I’ve always tried to put my game in the Premier League, not the other way around.

“I learned the issue of physical contact and intensity. I put it in my style, because I don’t have the physical build to want to go into the Premier League style of running and brawling. I get this, I try to insert it into my style of play.”
