Joseph Yobo: I am Ready to Become a Politician

Former Nigeria captain Joseph Yobo has said he is ready to build a career in Nigeria politics.

Yobo who has been capped 101 times for Nigeria between 2001 and 2014 explained that he has welcomed the idea of contributing more through political leadership after his service as a sportsman.

The 38-year-old has been hobnobbing with human right and electioneering in and outside Lagos State which fueled suspicions about his political ambitions.

When however asked, the former Super Eagles captain revealed he has an ambition but not for 2019 which is an election year in Nigeria.

He said,‘When you look at George Weah and what he has done, it is a massive achievement. He tried and failed, went to school came back and ran for office as Senator and now he’s the President of Liberia.

‘I’m open to running for office, but I have only just decided not to contest in 2019. I want to see how things go, but I am certainly not ruling out anything.’
