Joshua may fight at Tottenham’s new stadium-Hearn

TOTTENHAM’S brand-new stadium could potentially be a future venue for an Anthony Joshua fight.

That’s according to Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn.

Anthony Joshua has fought four times at stadiums in the U.K since he made his professional debut, with two coming at Wembley Stadium and the other two at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.

The world heavyweight champion has spoken before about fighting in stadiums around the world, including Nigeria, where his mother are from.

And it seems Hearn has his eye on another stadium that Joshua could make his mark in.

“I’d love to emulate the old man and put on a fight at the new Spurs ground,” the Matchroom king told the Evening Standard.

“The big stadium shows are quite rare but you’re always looking out for places. And Joshua had outgrown the indoor arenas here.

“Tottenham’s new stadium looks magnificent. Its ultra-modern and state-of-the art.

“I don’t know what Spurs’ plans are but it could be another option among several in London.

“It’s got to be on the radar for future big boxing events.”

Hearn then noted that the plan was for ‘AJ’ to box at Wembley on April 13 but an opponent could not be sourced following a breakdown in negotiations with Dillian Whyte and Deontay Wilder.

Boxing legend Muhammad Ali famously fought in north London when he was in his prime – but it was at Spurs’ rivals Arsenal’s Highbury Stadium that bore witness to Ali’s knockout of British great Henry Cooper.
