JUST-IN: Nigeria surrender four-goal lead vs Sierra Leone in AFCON qualifier

Sierra Leone staged a comeback from the dead to draw 4-4 against Nigeria in today’s AFCON qualifying match at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin-City , after being 4-0 down early on.

Alex Iwobi netted  the game’s opening with just five minutes on the clock ,  with Napoli’s Victor Osimhen doubling the Super Eagles’ advantage,  but Iwobi was on hand to make it three just before the half-hour mark with the goal of the game.

Picking up the ball 25 yards from Sierra Leone’s goal, the 24-year-old unleashed a sweet first-time strike that sailed into the top left-hand corner.

Nigeria looked to be cruising to victory with a further goal from Villarreal’s Samuel Chukwueze. But Sierra Leone reduced the deficit just before the break and stormed back in the second half to take a share of the spoils with an 86th-minute leveller.

Nigeria remain top of Group L qualifying with seven points from their three matches so far and take on Sierra Leone again on Tuesday for the reverse fixture in Freetown.
