Kalou unveiled at Botafogo after leaving Hertha Berlin on free transfer

Former Chelsea star, Salomon Kalou, has been officially unveiled at Botafogo.

The Ivorian joined the Brazilian side last month after leaving Hertha Berlin upon the expiry of his contract at the end of the 2019-20 Bundesliga season.

The forward, presumably beaming beneath his mask, will wear the No8 shirt at the Rio de Janeiro club.

And he will do so alongside new team-mate Keisuke Honda, with the Japanese legend playing in the fourth continent of his eclectic career.

In addition to skipper Honda, Kalou will be joined by fellow Premier League alumnus Diego Cavalieri.

The Brazilian goalkeeper had a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it spell at Liverpool a decade ago, while also briefly popping up at Crystal Palace in 2018.

Botafogo have become Kalou’s third club since leaving Chelsea in 2012, following decent spells at Lille and Hertha.

The 6ft attacker made 254 appearances for the Blues, scoring 60 goals in the process.

He won eight trophies at Stamford Bridge, culminating in extraordinary fashion with the 2012 Champions League in Munich.

Kalou then bagged 34 goals in 80 games for Lille, before notching 53 in six years at Hertha.

His Bundesliga exit was effectively sealed when he was suspended in May for breaking distancing rules during lockdown.
