Nigeria-born Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter, Kamaru Usman made good on his promise to beat Tyron Woodley and became the new UFC welterweight champion with an absolutely dominant performance at UFC 235  co-main event at T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas.
Usman won via unanimous decision 50-44, 50-44,50-45 from the ringside judges to halt Woodley’s title reign at four defenses and also recording his 10th straight win.

Usman entered to music dedicated to his Nigerian heritage, while Woodley walks out to a medley of his own songs.
The Auchi-born fighter took Woodley down in the opening round and, after Woodley managed to work back to his feet, peppered him with knees and punches in the clinch.
Woodley’s game plan and body language suggested an early defeat and his coaching team implored him to turn it around between the third and fourth rounds. Longtime coach Din Thomas begged Woodley to bite down on his mouthpiece and try to turn the tide, but Woodley remained on autopilot.
In his post-fight interview, Usman said: “I will be honest, I might not be the best striker or best wrestler in the world, but I am the best welterweight on the planet right now.”
Usman will fight Colby Covington,31, in his first title defense according to UFC CEO, Dana White and the 31 year-old Nigerian can’t wait to beat the American.
Usman said.”I want to beat that guy up so bad. I can’t be in a room with that guy. I just can’t.
“I can’t wait to be healed up and really get to put my hands on him. That’s going to be one I am going to enjoy, brutalizing him.”
