Kane not crazy about Golden Boot says Roma boss Mourinho

He may have left Tottenham but Roma Coach Jose Mourinho still has his eyes on England captain Harry Kane who was one of his talisman while at the helm with EPL outfit.

Mourinho has already started assembling a watertight technical crew ahead of the new season says Harry Kane more concerned about winning the Euros this year than winning the Golden boot.

Mourinho left Spurs in April but the forward spent most of the campaign working with the Portuguese boss.

The Englishman netted 33 goals from his 49 outings across all competitions. He also dropped deeper so he could add more assists to his game, as he ended up with 17 before the season ended.

Despite this, Kane did make a slow start to Euro 2020. He did not get a goal during the group stages and this led to some criticism.

To night is the night!

But in the Round of 16, he rounded off a superb England performance against Germany by making it 2-0 after Raheem Sterling’s opener.

Kane then scored a brace against Ukraine in the quarter-finals as Gareth Southgate’s men won 4-0. This puts him two goals behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Patrick Schick who are leading the Golden Boot race with five goals apiece.

Mourinho has told talkSPORT that Kane “doesn’t want” the Golden Boot, as he wants to win the Euros:

“I don’t think he cares about the Golden Boot, I don’t think he cares, honestly.

“I think he would care about it if he feels England has no chance to win it, and he probably thinks I cannot win the big one with England, so let me win, or try to win, the individual one for myself.

“I spoke with him when he was on zero goals, and he was happy – because the team was winning. He was not worried about his zero goals record. He didn’t really care about it.

“And then I spoke with him after he’d scored three goals and of course the happiness was there but the happiness had doubled with the fact he was getting closer to the final and this is the only thing he thinks about.

“He wants to win it. He has a few individual awards already, but he doesn’t want this one. He wants to win the Euros. That’s what he has in mind
