Tasiu Lawal (in yellow) takes on an opponent

Katsina United’s Tasiu Lawal has disclosed that his next target is to end the season as the highest scorer in the Nigeria Professional Football League at the end of the season.

Lawal scored a brace against Remo Stars on Sunday in their 3-2 home win to increase his goals tally for the season to seven and just two behind current pacesetter, Mfon Udoh who also netted once in their 2-1 win over Nasarawa United for his ninth goal of the campaign.
The attacker told SportingLife that he hopes to increase his goal tally when they visit Niger Tornadoes in Minna on Wednesday.
“I am happy to score two goals and now I have seven league goals. It has been a good season for me on a personal note,” Lawal told SportingLife.
“Last season I only scored three goals but I have got more than double of that now. I have my sight on winning the highest scorer award at the end of the season. It is my personal target and I hope to push Mfon Udoh and others until the end of the season.
“I hope to get one or two more against my former team, Tornadoes on Wednesday. They have won a game in which I played against them and I have always been scoring against them too. I believe I will score
again.”
Lawal’s goals have helped Katsina United to the fifth spot in the NPFL Group A with 24 points from 17 games.
