Kelechi’s strike in running for goal of the season

Leicester striker Kelechi Iheanacho scored one of the best Premier League goals of the season with a sensational, over-the-shoulder volley against Burnley.

Anyone who’s tried to score a goal like this knows how hard it is – but Iheanacho’s technique was absolutely perfect.

Wilfred Ndidi lobbed a hopeful ball over the top from midfield, Iheanacho ran on to it – keeping his eyes on the ball all the way as it came over his shoulder. Then he fired it first time past the onrushing Nick Pope and into the Burnley net.

It was a strike the likes of volley kings Robin van Persie or Zinedine Zidane would have been proud to score, as Iheanacho’s sensational left-foot shot drew Leicester level at 1-1 inside the first half.

Earlier in the Premier League encounter, Matej Vydra had capitalised on Ndidi’s error to give Burnley the lead. But this levelled things up in style (Ndidi registering the assist to make up for his mistake).

Leicester’s Nigerian striker has been less than prolific this season with only one Premier League goal, against Fulham, before this wonder-strike .But what a way to double your total.
