Klopp names three Liverpool stars in contention to face Man Utd

Jurgen Klopp indicated that he is ready to welcome back three players to his Liverpool squad as they seek to get one over the only team to have taken points off them this season at the weekend.

Manchester United come to Anfield on Sunday with the memory of their 1-1 draw at Old Trafford in October no doubt fresh in their memories.

Matip hasn’t featured since the draw at United in October

That is the only one of Liverpool’s 21 Premier League matches that the Reds haven’t won this season, with their lead at the top stretching to 14 points following their 1-0 victory at Tottenham on Saturday.

Klopp was able to give Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain his first start since the Club World Cup final in that game, while Xherdan Shaqiri also returned from injury as a late substitute.

And now Joel Matip, Dejan Lovren and Fabinho are all in line to be involved in the matchday squad for the United game after all have recovered from injuries.

Fabinho has been on the sidleines for the last two months

“I wait really until they are on the pitch and somebody tells me they are allowed to do the full session,” the Reds boss told the Liverpool website .

“It looks like Joel will be in, it looks like Fabinho will be in maybe a day later, I’m not sure. Dejan, maybe he can be in as well.

“That means a lot and helps massively of course. But we will see how it looks. The week is very important.

“The game on Sunday against United, we all know what people expect from us from that game. It will be a big one as well and we try to be ready for that.”

ovren has been out since the 2-0 win at Salzburg in December.

The recent form of Joe Gomez at centre-back means that Matip and Lovren may be forced to settle for places on the bench should they be involved against United.

Fabinho has been out since sustaining an ankle injury in the Champions League draw against Napoli on November 27, but could return to allow Jordan Henderson to move further forward in midfield.
