Koulibaly to join Man Utd for £69m

Italian giants, Napoli, may have to part ways with star man, Kalidou Koulibaly, for just £69m in January.

The Sengal international is widely considered to be one of the best defenders in the world and was one of Manchester United ’s main targets in the summer.

In fact, the Serie A outfit actually rejected a world record bid for the 28-year-old and the Red Devils signed Harry Maguire from Leicester instead.

However, despite finishing second in the league behind the dominant Juventus for three of the past four seasons, Napoli are a long way off recreating that level of success this campaign.

A poor run in their opening 12 Serie A games has left them lagging a mammoth 13 points behind leaders Juventus already.

Their woeful form has reportedly lead to several players, Koulibaly included, hiring personal bodyguards to protect them from the Napoli ultras.

Koulibaly was among the stars who refused to participate and, with other reports suggesting the club are set to take legal action against their own players, Italian publication Il Mattino are reporting that Napoli could part ways with their star defender for a much lower figure than they rejected in the summer.

This could tempt United to make another move for the player, despite the fact that there is a greater need to strengthen in midfield and attack.

The failure to replace Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku, who departed for Inter Milan in the summer, have left the club short of goalscorers.
