Nigeria and Las Palmas of Spain midfielder, Oghenekaro Peter Etebo did not train with teammates on Tuesday ahead of their La Liga clash against Eibar on Saturday at the Estadio Municipal de Ipurua.

A statement on the club’s website stated that the player was excused due to muscle discomfort and didn’t say whether he would recover in time for the away fixture.

“Peter Etebo, did not participate in the team’s afternoon training due to muscle discomfort. He has undergone physiotherapy treatments by the medical and recovery services of the club,” read the statement.

“Etebo, as a precaution, was also absent in the evening training of the yellow team, which was focused work on the visit to Ipurua, the last away game of the season.”

This would not be good news for the former Warri Wolves player who only in April returned to training after missing two games against Deportivo La Coruna and Real Madrid due to injury sustained on March 11 against Villareal.

It was because of injury that Etebo was dropped by Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr for Nigeria’s international friendlies against Poland and Serbia last March.

The midfielder who was in action for Las Palmas in their 1-0 loss to Getafe at the weekend now joins the list of Super Eagles players on the treatment table.
