Leeds seek to beef up with Javi Galan move

Leeds have made initial forays into a transfer for Huesca left-back Javi Galan after a setback over Romain Perraud, according to a report.

The left side of defence is looking like an area of priority for Whites boss Marcelo Bielsa to address this summer. Despite late reports suggesting the contrary, Ezgjan Alioski is likely to leave. Behind him, Leif Davis remains a fringe option after playing only 31 Premier League minutes this season.

Earlier reports had claimed that Stade Brest’s Perraud was likely to move to Elland Road.

Leeds chief Victor Orta reportedly had confidence in getting the deal over the line. However, on Tuesday, it emerged that the Frenchman’s fee could see the transfer collapse.

As a result, Football Insider claims that Leeds are now looking at Galan, who has impressed in La Liga this season.

The 26-year-old may not have produced the same number of direct attacking contributions as Perraud this season; the latter contributed 10 goals overall while Galan managed only three.

Nevertheless, Galan offers a solid attacking outlet as regards driving his team up the pitch.

In fact, according to WhoScored, he completed 121 dribbles in La Liga this season, with only Barcelona’s Lionel Messi (159) beating him for that statistic.
