Leicester City star Ali Reghba returns to Africa, signs for CR Belouizdad

Algerian champions CR Belouizdad have announced the signing of Leicester City development squad striker Ali Reghba for an undisclosed fee.

CR Belouizdad, who are into the last 16 of the African Champions League and again lead their domestic division, say they have brought in Reghba on a deal until 2024.

While an Irish youth international, who joined City from Bohemians in Dublin, Reghba has links to Algeria, with his dad, a former professional boxer, growing up in the country.

The move comes after Reghba fell out of favour at City this season, the 22-year-old striker unable to earn any appearances for the development squad.

After breaking through with a brace on his senior league debut in Ireland aged 18, Reghba went on trial with City in January 2019, scoring twice on his second appearance for the club in a win over Swansea.

In the summer, he then joined City permanently, going on to make 36 more appearances for the development squad in Premier League 2 and the EFL Trophy, scoring four more goals.

He has not been seen this season though, with his last outing coming in March, in a 1-1 draw with Chelsea in which he received a straight red card.
