Super Eagles midfielder, Alex Iwobi has been given the license to thrill the fans this season by Arsenal manager Unai Emery.
The former Paris Saint German (PSG) gaffer, who has guided the Gunners to 11 consecutive victories in all competitions wants the Nigerian to play without fear and thoughts of making mistakes because its all part of the game and he can only improve by expressing himself.
The exciting 22-year-old has been a revelation for the North London side this season and its no surprise that the manager prefers him ahead of Wales international Aaron Ramsey in midfield and Iwobi has repaid that confidence by his brilliant displays so far.
“We can’t just stop at one mistake,” Emery told the club’s official website. “The mistake is to learn and to attempt another action.
“The confidence is giving them the possibility to do the things well and also, when they make a mistake, it makes them want to do better on the next attempt.
“I think my idea with the players is to give them confidence every day by working hard in every session, in the video analysis, with the videos we give them. We give them the opportunity to watch their action first, their good actions, their bad actions, and this is the way for them to take a lot of confidence or learn how to improve.
“They think, ‘How can I improve?’ or ‘How can I do better in a different situation within the game? I think for [Alex] and for our other players, we need to work on things every day.”
Iwobi had a cameo show during Arsenal’s 1-0 victory against Sporting Lisbon in the Europa League on Thursday but he is expected to return to the starting line-up on Sunday when they travel to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace.
Arsenal are currently fourth on the premier league log, two points adrift joint leaders Manchester City and Liverpool after nine matches so far this season.
