Lille boss reacts on the club’s dependence on Osimhen for goals

LOSC Lille manager Christopher Galtier says there is no cause for alarm that his team depends on Victor Osimhen for goals.

Osimhen arrived Lille from Belgian side, Sporting Charleroi this summer and has gone on to become a key component of Galtier’s side by shouldering goal-scoring duties for the team.

Lille have scored 19 goals in the French Ligue 1 this season with Osimhen contributing eight from 14 appearances.

The former Wolfsburg striker is also responsible for two out of the three goals scored by the Great Danes in this season’s UEFA Champions League.

Galtier knows his team doesn’t score enough goals when the 20-year old Nigerian forward is not on parade and he remains unperturbed relying on the former Golden Eaglets ace for goals.

“All the team’s are dependent on their strikers. Against Dijon, we were constantly looking for short passes around the box, we have to shoot more.

“I’m not worried that the team is dependent on Victor Osimhen,” he summed up.

Osimhen’s strike partners in Lille have scored a combined seven goals between them. Jonathan Ikoné has two goals, former French forward Loic Remy has three goals while Jonathan Bamba has two goals.
