Liverpool agree terms with Newcastle for whizkid Bobby Clark

Liverpool have agreed on terms with Newcastle United for Bobby Clark.

The Evening Chronicle says sources at the Liverpool end have indicated the Reds have agreed on a fee with Newcastle for the 16-year-old and hope to confirm the deal in due course.

Newcastle sources claimed last month that they wanted Clark to have a future on Tyneside and follow in the footsteps of his famous father Lee, who became a terrace idol in the 1990s, but it looks like the Reds have won their battle to sign the Academy product.

Players of Clark’s age at Newcastle usually see out a scholarship until the age of 17 before penning a professional contract, with Joe White and Elliot Anderson going down that pathway in the last year or so.

However, Liverpool appear to have stolen a march on the Magpies and are eager to get the deal rubber-stamped soon.
