Liverpool Have Now Lost 5 Straight League Matches in 129-Year History
Liverpool’s Premier League season has hit a new all-time low as the Reds have now lost five straight league matches at Anfield for the first time in their history.
Mason Mount scored in the first half on Thursday as Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea side condemned Liverpool to another defeat at Anfield.
Liverpool’s unfortunate league home defeat streak started in mid-January with a shock 1-0 defeat to Burnley.
Jurgen Klopp’s men have since lost 1-0 to Brighton, 4-1 to Manchester City and 2-0 to Everton in the league.
Liverpool were handed a lifeline early on in their clash with Chelsea as VAR controversially ruled Timo Werner offside for the Blues’ opener.
However, Liverpool fans’ frustrations continued in the second half of the match after the Reds weren’t awarded a penalty for N’Golo Kante’s handball.
The Reds languish in seventh place in the table and are a whopping 22 points behind league leaders City.
Jurgen Klopp admitted after the match that the result is a “massive blow” and urged his side to bounce back from the defeat.
The Liverpool boss told Sky Sports: “The individual quality of Mason Mount in that moment made the difference. It was a tight game, intense game. Both teams invested a lot. That is it pretty much.
