Liverpool must be at their best against Leicester City, says Klopp

Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp, has admitted that defensively they must be at their best facing Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy on Sunday.

The Reds will be without key defenders Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold among others as they have fallen victim to injuries through the hectic football calendar.

The reigning champions host the current league leaders at Anfield and Klopp had plenty of praise for Foxes frontman Vardy ahead of the crucial clash.

“His speed, first and foremost,” Klopp responded when asked about Vardy’s threat.

“How he uses that and how smart he is, how he has developed his game over the years, he gambles in a good way on the last line and takes risks.

“His technical level is very high, Jamie is a proper player.”

Klopp added: “They showed last year how good they can be and this again, they changed their style slightly.

“They are a good example of how you can deal with an injury crisis, they have a good idea of how they want to play. This year they are more experienced.”
