Liverpool ‘speed up’ midfielder pursuit amid Tielemans interest

Liverpool are thought to be in the market for a midfielder in the summer transfer window following the departure of Georginio Wijnaldum.

Wijnaldum is joining Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer after coming to the end of his contract at Anfield.

Leicester City star Youri Tielemans has been linked with a move to Liverpool following another impressive campaign with the Foxes.

Tielemans would command a big fee, however, and Leicester are hoping the Belgium international will pledge his future to the club after Euro 2020 by signing a new contract.

Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Florian Neuhaus and Roma’s Lorenzo Pellegrini have emerged as possible alternative targets for Liverpool.

And now it is being reported that the Reds are looking to push through a deal to sign Otavio from Porto.

The 26-year-old is being touted as a potential replacement for Wijnaldum on Merseyside, with boss Jurgen Klopp said to be a big fan.

According to Portuguese media outlet A Bola, a deal to sign Otavio “may be imminent” after Liverpool “advanced forcefully” in their pursuit of the Brazilian.

The Reds are apparently keen to “speed up” the transfer as they could save money if it is completed by the end of this month.
