Liverpool star to shun post summer contract extension

Liverpool reserve goalkeeper Adrian has  made his mind up about his future as he eyes a retirement switch to Spain.

During his time with West Ham the experienced stopper was continually linked with a return to Real Betis.

The 34-year-old came up through the ranks at the Spanish outfit before eventually joining the Hammers in 2013.

He eventually made his way to Anfield in 2019 and has made 24 appearances in all competitions for the Reds.

His contract at Liverpool is due to end this summer, although there remains the possibility to extend it for another season.

However, Spanish outlet Fichajes, as cited by Sport Witness, claims that Adrian ‘will not continue at Liverpool’. To that end, he will be looking to sign for another club. Betis has been named as the club Adrain is eyeing to continue his further romance with football.

If Adrian did return to his former employers, he would initially be back up to veteran stopper Caludio Bravo. The 37-year-old currently has just under 18 months of his current contract to run.

Despite potentially signing on to be an understudy again, the report adds that would not be an issue for the Reds man.

Indeed, Adrian has his heart set on eventually retiring at Betis and bringing down the curtain on where it all began.
