Lucky football fan wins £79.5k from a £2 bet

One lucky fan got his hands on £79,568.57 after betting on a huge accumulator comprising a series of matches from the Championship, Champions League and Europa League.
The William Hill customer placed a £2 bet and correctly picked the winner for 13 different clashes on Wednesday, resulting in a bumper pay-out.
The betting company said they were ‘amazed’ by the customer’s winnings and said that he had ‘hit the jackpot’ after a ‘few nervous moments along the way’.
The football supporter placed his bet when the odds were 39,783/1 and returned £79,568.57.
He bet on Atletico Madrid’s 3-2 thriller and Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League clash with RB Leipzig, both matches of which were decided in the late stages.
The William Hill customer also backed the likes of Real Madrid and Ajax to beat Shakhtar Donetsk and Borussia Dortmund respectively, each of which successfully came in.

Speaking of the customer’s winnings, William Hill spokesperson Rupert Adams said: ‘One of our customers hit the jackpot on Wednesday night as he amazingly managed to correctly predict the result of 13 football matches.
‘Landing monster odds like this is rare, but clearly not impossible’ His £2 bet won him £79,568.57. There must have been a few nervous moments along the way, including the overturned penalty decision in the Atletico Madrid versus Liverpool game.’
