Madagascar recalls Rayan Raveloson for AFCON

Troyes midfielder Rayan Raveloson has been included in Madagascar’s team to the African Nations Cup starting in Egypt next month.

Madagascar are in the AFCON for the first time and will face Nigeria, Guinea and fellow first-timers Burundi in Group B.
The 22 year-old was invited to play for the Bareas during their AFCON double header against Equatorial Guinea in October but did not play a single and was subsequently dropped from the team as they became the first team to qualify for the football showcase in Egypt.

Madagascar’s French coach Nicolas Dupuis, giving his reason for inviting Rayan, said: “Raya is a talented young player who, for now, has been called once for selection.
“He is full of promise  and I decided to invite him along with more experienced players like (Marco) llaimaharitra and (Ibrahim) Amada so that he will learn again and hopefully become a mainstay in the future.
“He is very young but his talent is real and needs time.”
Rayan has played 27 times for  third-placed Troyes in the French Ligue 2 this season and is very instrumental for his team’s push to return to the top division.
