Real Madrid table £70m Plus Bale for England international

Real Madrid reportedly are ready to test Manchester City’s resolve over Raheem Sterling by offering £70million plus wantaway winger Gareth Bale.

Sky Sports News have reported that the Spanish giants have made Sterling a priority signing and that club scouts will travel to watch him on upcoming England duty.

Bale has sought an exit from the club but it remains unclear if City boss Pep Guardiola would be interested in the 30-year-old Welshman.

Bale has three years remaining on his deal and presents a sizeable chunk of the club’s exorbitant wage bill.

Sterling is six years younger than the Welshman and is on an upward trajectory in his career having thrived since Guardiola took over at the Etihad Stadium.

Despite signing Eden Hazard from Chelsea for £130m in the summer, Zinedine Zidane is continuing to seek another star to lift his attack to former glories.

Gareth Southgate’s side take on Montenegro at home on November 14 before a trip to Kosovo three days after that.

It is then expected that a proposal for a transfer will be put to City by Real Madrid chiefs.

Which Way for Gareth Bale

Sterling’s current deal in Manchester expires in the summer of 2023 and news of Real Madrid’s desire to push on for a deal could see him handed fresh terms to commit his future to City.

The Englishman has never ruled out the possibility of a move abroad in future, providing Madrid bosses with hope he could be enticed to Spain.

Speaking in the British GQ August issue, Sterling said: ‘Looking at it now it’s like, Manchester, I love it. I love it here. This is one of the best clubs in the world and I’m here for the long haul.

‘But you just don’t know what happens in the future. I’m still young and, like I said, I am loving every minute.
