Mahrez celebrates Manchester City victory outside Mourinho’s hotel

Manchester City player Riyad Mahrez appeared to be in high spirits when he and a group of friends returned to the Lowry Hotel in a £160,000 Bentley Bentayga on Sunday night.

anchester United slumped to a 3-2 defeat at Brighton.

United manager Jose Mourinho also lives at the Lowry but will likely be in a much lower mood when he returns there following his side’s trip south.

Mourinho snapped at a female reporter in a post-match interview at Brighton, sarcastically telling her: ‘You must be fantastic in your job to have the ability to speak about chemistry between players.’

United finished second last season but challenging City for the Premier League title this term is already looking unrealistic.

Mourinho is the bookies’ favourite to be the first manager sacked.

Mahrez is settling into life in Manchester after completing a £60million switch from Leicester in July.

The 2016 PFA Player of the Year started in City’s 2-0 win over Chelsea in the Community Shield and then again in their Premier League opener at Arsenal, which they won by the same score.

He was taken off midway through the second half in both of those games, before entering the action on 64 minutes against Huddersfield.

Mahrez touched the ball 32 times on Sunday as he attempted two shots and 29 passes against vastly inferior opposition.
