MANAGER’S NOTES

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola: “We know that if we win tonight and again on Sunday at Brighton then we will be back-to-back champions and create some history for this club and its supporters.

“As this is the last home game of the season, I want to use these notes to thank the fans for their unconditional support. We have needed them in the last few weeks of the season, especially after the Champions League loss.

“The way they backed us here that night against Spurs and in the following Premier League games against the same opposition, then United and Burnley helped the players a great deal.

“Now we ask them one more time to help us fight until the end. Whatever happens in these next two matches, and then the FA Cup final, I’m sure everyone will agree that it has been an amazing season and one which this group of players can look back at with pride.”

NEV: RODGERS WILL WANT THE WIN

Gary Neville tells Monday Night Football Brendan Rodgers will be going for the win against Manchester City tonight – and will have prepared his players in a different way to many of the champions’ opponents.

He says: “I can’t think Brendan Rodgers is going to come here tonight and fold his tactics of winning the ball back early, trying to press as high as he can and win it high up the pitch, but I always get the feeling most teams when they play Manchester City spend the majority of their time in the week thinking about they’re going to stop them, rather than how they are going to beat them.

“I would have thought Brendan will spend an equal time on both; with Tielemans, Maddison, Barnes, Gray, they’ll take the ball. You have to have four or five passes against Manchester City, because as soon as they lose the ball they try to win it back off you and are off on that counter-attack against you.

“You’ve got to be brave, pass to people when they’re marked – they’re more than likely going to be marked, you have to protect the ball, receive it on the half-turn, Leicester have two or three who can do that, and they have a goalscorer who is ruthless. They can cause Manchester City problems.”
