Man City 2-3 Man Utd: I had to save my image-Mourinho

Guardiola: I'm sad

Manchester United Manager, Jose Mourinho, has described the 3-2 victory against Manchester City at the Etihad on Saturday as one that has saved his image and not necessarily to stop their host from winning the English Premier League title.

He reckoned that Manchester city would win the league, but not  against United.

“I was really sad with the first goal and I think it is the third corner they have scored against us this season.

“Then with the second it was important for the players to remain confident. We moved the ball, more than any team has done against Manchester City. We pressed a bit higher and we remained in shape to get a good result.

“I think mathematically we needed the  six points to stay in the top four and this win is part of that tonight.”

“Our challenge is to finish second but I want to congratulate City for the title because they are going to win and deservedly. They gave no chance to the others because they had this season of don’t stop winning.

“My objective here was to get the points and not spoil anyone’s celebration. The point is can we improve enough to catch them next season?

On Paul Pogba rumours: “If the accusation from his agent is that he wants to go to other clubs, his price has gone up.”

Manchester United went from two-goals down to beat Manchester City 3-2 in the derby match.

Meanwhile City Manager, Pep Guardiola has promised to make up Saturday’s defeat by winning their next game.

” We’re all a little bit sad for our people, our fans and our players. We’ll try and put them in a good mood on Tuesday,” Guardiola  said after the match.

He added, “The first half, the game was almost over. In 10 minutes, they recovered and after we created enough chances and situations. Our team is trying to create and attack, that’s why we make the decisions we have. We have a lot of quality as you saw in the first half. We need to defend a little better and focus”
