Man City battling Red Bull for FC Ufa ownership

Manchester City are in an ownership battle for Russia’s FC Ufa.

Sport-Express says City are battling drinks giant Red Bull for control of the Russian Premier League club.

City owners, City Football Group, are ready to further expand their club portfolio by moving into Russia – and FC Ufa are their focus.

City’s interest was first sparked by negotiating with Ufa over the signing of Oleks Zinchenko.

However, it’s claimed Ufa are favouring Red Bull’s proposal. While there’s less money on the table, Red Bull’s club network is regarded as superior to City’s.

Local pundit Roman Naguchev wrote on Telegram: “It is curious that the general director of Ufa is leaning in this direction. There is noticeably less money, but much more potential.

“The management of Ufa has already held several meetings. Everything will be decided soon.”
