Man City to Valencia: Accept £31.8m for Torres or forget it!

 

Manchester City have told Valencia they ‘won’t pay more than £31.8 million’ for their 20-year-old winger Ferran Torres.

Pep Guardiola is looking for a winger to replace Leroy Sane, who completed a £55m move to Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich earlier this month.

Valencia are hoping to get a fee of around £40m for Torres who has scored six goals and provided eight assists in 43 appearances this season.

But Marca have reported that Manchester City chiefs think they can get him on the cheap, as the Spaniard has just one-year left on his contract at the Mestalla Stadium.

Marca previously reported that Valencia are ready to tear down their squad to build a new and cheaper team as part of plans to ease the fallout of forecasted financial burdens.

The LaLiga side has endured a tumultuous year on the pitch which is likely to end with the team missing out on European qualification for next season as they sit in eighth spot in the standings.

Having reached the Champions League in the previous two seasons, the absence of continental football on top of the financial impact of the coronavirus outbreak is set to take its toll.

Europe op clubs are set to raid the Spanish side for its best talent and Torres is seen as the standout target.

Manchester City and Manchester United have both been tracking the talented winger and have been put on alert by by the possibility of getting the 20-year-old on the cheap.
