Man U player of the Month: Fernandes floors Ighalo others

 

Portugal international Bruno Fernandes has been voted Manchester United player Month, for the Month of March.

Bruno survived tough competition from Nigeria international and rave of the moment at the Old Trafford, Odion Ighalo to win the award.

He also brushed aside the duo of Fred and Harry Magire in the contest.

It will be the second consecutive award the former Sporting Lisbon star will be winning having clinched same award in February.

Fernandes it will be recalled joined the Red Devils in a deal around €55m in January from Sporting Lisbon

The midfielder got his reign at Old Trafford off to a flying start – scoring three goals and four assists in his first nine appearances for the Red Devils.

Ighalo gave a good fight in the chase for the gong after scoring three goals in four matches in all competitions in the month under review but his contributions are not enough to help him win.

This award is coming weeks after being voted the Premier League player of the month and PFA Fans’ Premier League Player of the Month for the month of February.

His impressive displays have helped Man United close the top-four gap on Chelsea – with just three points between the two clubs.

He also played a crucial role in their Europa League campaign as they are one leg into the quarterfinals with their 5-0 win on the road over LASK before coronavirus crippled all activities.

Fernandes has shown he is a proven goal scorer way before joining the Red Devils after scoring 63 goals and 52 assists in 137 matches for Sporting CP.
