Man United ready shirt number for Sancho after £120m switch

Manchester United are ready to offer Jadon Sancho the coveted number seven shirt at Old Trafford in a bid to persuade the England star to join the club.

The Red Devils are leading the race to sign the former Manchester City winger and are willing to break their club transfer record in order to sign him.

Jadon Sancho is keen on returning to the Premier League

United believed they were close to a deal at the end of last season but their collapse in the final weeks of the campaign meant they failed to qualify for the Champions League and that ended their hopes.

However, United have renewed hope this summer and the Evening Standard claim the number seven shirt will be offered to Sancho in a bid to convince him to move to the Theatre of Dreams.

Alexis Sanchez currently occupies the shirt but the club hope to sell him this summer.

Should they fail to do so, the Chilean could be stripped of the shirt number altogether as Sancho is seen as the future.
Chelsea are United’s main rival for Sancho and the Blues are currently a position above the Red Devils in the Premier League table.

Frank Lampard can point to his promotion of the likes of Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham, Fikayo Tomori and Reece James as proof of his determination to blood young players.

United, though, boast the likes of Marcus Rashford, Scott McTominay, Paul Pogba, Brandon Williams and Andreas Pereira as academy products in the first team.

Dortmund have accepted that they will sell Sancho this summer and will simply sell to the highest bidder.

They already have a working relationship with Chelsea after the Blues sign Christian Pulisic for £57m last January.
