Man Utd blow as summer signing rules out stay

Manchester United have been dealt a blow after Edinson Cavani reportedly decided to quit the club in the summer transfer window.

The 34-year-old forward has the option of another year in his Red Devils contract but will instead join Boca Juniors at the end of the season, according to claims from South America

Cavani has scored seven times and added two assists for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, despite not starting every week.

The likes of Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood have clearly benefitted form having the experienced star around.

Although Cavani’s campaign has been disrupted by injury and a suspension, United were hopeful he would stay for another season.

However, he is reportedly set to join Boca this summer, following talks between the Buenos Aires giants, his brother, and agent Walter Guglielmone.

That’s according to a report from Argentine outlet Olé, as cited by Sport Witness.

The publication quoted a source: “In July he’s at Boca, that’s the idea. Unless there’s a mistake, that’s it. He’s decided to return now. And he has decided that it’s Boca.”

Olé adds that Cavani will move as free agent, with his United option terminated. The player will also take a pay cut, although he wants a three-year contract.
