Man Utd Clears Mourinho’s Office in just ‘five minutes’ after sacking him

Manchester United wasted no time in banishing the memories of Jose Mourinho’s tumultuous tenure as manager as they cleared out his office ‘within five minutes’ of his sacking.

The Portuguese boss was finally relieved of his duties last week after United’s worst start to a Premier League season ever.

The news was officially confirmed at 9.46am on December 18 before a smiling and freshly-shaven Mourinho – who is set to receive a reported £22.5million payout – left Carrington three-and-a-half hours after arriving.

It seemed staff working at the club’s training ground were in a rush to get rid of him as soon as possible though with The Sun reporting his office was emptied just five minutes after he was sacked.

Mourinho received the news of his dismissal in a face-to-face meeting with executive vice chairman Ed Woodward.

His belongings, including pictures sat on the wall and trophies, were then shoved into boxes before being transported away.

A Sun source said: ‘The club were ruthless in the end. Just minutes after being sacked they were in there.

‘It took just 15 minutes to consign Jose to history. They dumped all his stuff into a white transit van. He spoke briefly to some of the support staff but spent most of his time in office on the day.’

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has now stepped in to take over until the end of the season and began his tenure with a thumping 5-1 win over former club Cardiff on Saturday.

United legend Wayne Rooney believes most of the staff at the club were unhappy with Mourinho at the helm, and Solskjaer is the man to change the toxic atmosphere at Old Trafford.

He told BT Sport on Saturday: ‘[It was] not just the players, but the whole football club. I’m sure Ed Woodward was the same, the staff, the kitchen ladies, the kit men weren’t enjoying it. Ole’s the person [to help] straight away and I know they’re happy.’
