Manchester City captain signs new contract to remain under  Guardiola

Fernandinho has signed a one-year contract extension with Manchester City.

The City skipper, out of contract at the end of last season, has extended his stay with the Blues to nine years with the new deal.

The Brazilian, who joined City from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2013 for £30million, has clocked up 350 appearances for the Blues and remains a key figure on and off the pitch.

Fernandinho said: “In my head and my mind, the job is not done yet.

“That’s why I decided to stay here another year and try to help the team and the club to achieve the goals that they’re looking for.
