Manchester City are closing in on a deal to sign talented Spanish youngster Oscar Tarensi from Espanyol.

According to Spanish newspaper Sport, negotiations over a January move for the left-sided 15-year-old close to being completed.

City have won the race to sign Tarensi, who is free to sign for another club when he turns 16 on January 10.

Capable of playing as a full back, midfielder and a winger, Tarensi is a Spain youth international and one of Espanyol’s most promising academy players.

He has been starring for the club’s juvenile B team despite being a year younger than most players in the side.

City have been following Tarensi for an extended period as they look to snap-up the most talented youngsters in Europe

The Premier League champions have added ex-Barcelona starlets Eric Garcia and Adria Bernabe to their academy recently and remain on the lookout.

Espanyol, meanwhile, continue to lose many of their best young players to bigger clubs at home and abroad.

Arnau Puigmal joined Manchester United earlier this year, Brian Pena, Raul Moro and Txus Alba signed for Barcelona, and Pau Russo and Andry Gudjohnsen made the move to Real Madrid.
