Mane beats Vardy, Alli to one prestigious award

Liverpool winger Sadio Mane has been named the Premier League Player of the Month for November after a series of fine displays.

Mane scored three goals and contributed one assist as the Reds maintained their unbeaten start to the Premier League season and chalked up four victories.

Jurgen Klopp’s side now have an eight-point lead going into this weekend’s fixtures and Mane was decisive in ensuring they maintained their advantage at the summit.

Mane’s first game in November saw him set up Andy Robertson’s 87th-minute equaliser at Aston Villa before heading home a dramatic winner in stoppage time.

He then scored in the 3-1 victory over reigning champions Manchester City at Anfield and found the back of the net in the win at Crystal Palace.

It is the third time the 27-year-old has won the award, also winning the prize in August 2017 and March 2019.

He finished top of a seven-man shortlist that also included Dele Alli, Raul Jimenez, Lys Mousset, Son Heung-min, Caglar Soyuncu and Jamie Vardy.

Mane will be in action once again on Saturday when Liverpool welcoming struggling Watford to Anfield.
