Manny Pacquiao eyes Aussie trip for Kambosos vs Haney
Manny Pacquiao is reportedly considering a trip to Australia to support George Kambosos Jr, but the trip may be aborted should Pacquiao emerge Philippine President in May 9 election
Reigning WBA, WBO and IBF lightweight champion Kambosos will defend his world titles on home soil next month, with the plucky Aussie aiming for undisputed status against WBC king Devin Haney.
Kambosos played the role of main sparring partner for three years with Pacquiao, before leaving the nest and seeking his own legacy.
According The daily telegraph the boxing legend is planning a visit to Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium to support the 28-year-old boxer on June 5, pending the outcome of his bid for high office in the Philippines.
Pacquiao looks like a long shot to be elected president of his country on May 9. If the 43-year-old pulls off an upset victory in the coming days, his schedule could prevent him from traveling to Australia.
Pacquiao is familiar with Australia, having faced Jeff Horn in Brisbane five years ago, where he suffered a shock points loss.
