Marcelo out of Madrid derby after suffering muscle injury

Real Madrid left back Marcelo will miss the crucial Madrid derby on Saturday (today) against Atletico Madrid after suffering a muscle injury during Wednesday’s 3-0 loss to Sevilla.

The Brazilian who is a key player for the Los Blancos is expected back after next month’s international break.

He should be fit before Madrid’s league fixture against Levante on October 20 and also the first Clasico of the season eight days later.

Atletico are just two points behind joint-La Liga Madrid and Barcelona.

Marcelo will miss next week’s Champions League trip to CSKA Moscow on Tuesday, as well as next
weekend’s fixture against Deportivo Alaves – who are also currently two points behind the leaders.
