Massive Payday: Eagles grab N130.5m for Cameroon victory

It was a massive payday for the Super Eagles after they defeated the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon 3-2 in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations round of 16 tie yesterday.

The 23-man squad won about N130.5m being the total sum of their bonuses where each player will get $12,500 in addition to $25,000 promise made by Aiteo  boss, Benedict Peters for each goal scored in the game.
The three goals the Eagles scored meant they are $75,000 (N27m) richer courtesy of Peters’ pre match largesse.
The Aiteo boss breezed into Egypt on the eve of the game promised the Eagles 25,000 dollars for each goal they scored against Cameroon in a repeat of the gesture he handed over to the Eagles when they humbled the same team 4-0 in 2017 in a World Cup qualifier in Uyo.
The Eagles started the game in commanding fashion through Odion Ighalo’s strike but they were 2-1 down by halftime when they allowed the Indomitable Lions to claw their way back through two quickly taken chances in the final minutes of the first half.
