Mbappe closes gap on Messi in Golden Shoe race

Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain thrash Dijon 4-0 while Monaco win against relegation rivals Amiens.

Messi leads the standings with 34 goals, but Mbappe is only two goals behind and plays next weekend, while Barca’s final game is at Eibar on Sunday.

Defeat for Dijon means their three-season stay in Ligue 1 may soon come to an end after they were condemned to a bottom-three finish.

After winning two of their previous four matches, Antoine Koumbouare’s side needed to pull off a surprise result at the Parc des Princes to ensure they had a shot at escaping the danger zone going into the final match. However, the best position they can now attain is 18th, the play-off berth.

Dijon made a wretched start, conceding two goals in the opening four minutes to Angel Di Maria and Edinson Cavani before Mbappe scored twice either side of half-time to take his tally to 40 goals for the season in all competitions.
