Mbappe Real Madrid deal may wait till January

Real Madrid could  be forced to wait until January to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe, despite positive talks between both parties.

Los Blancos are understood to have made an improved bid for the 22-year-old worth £145.9m plus £8.6m in guaranteed add-ons, after having an opening offer of £137m rejected on Wednesday.

Mbappe has told the Parisian club that he wants to leave and make his dream move to the La Liga giants, whether it is this summer or next year.

According to Sky Sports News, Real Madrid are sensing that they may be in a better position to sign Mbappe in January as PSG are stalling in their negotiations.

Mbappe will see his current contract expire in the summer of 2022 and Real could sign a pre-contract agreement with the forward on January 1, so that he can move to the Spanish capital on a free transfer.

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has insisted that the club’s position “has not changed” and they will only agree to the transfer if their terms are met.

Mbappe joined PSG from Monaco for £154m in 2018, after a season-long loan, however they have only paid £124m so far with the rest due when the forward either renews his contract or is sold.
