Mbappe to be reminded of obligations after skipping France marketing event

French federation (FFF) president Noel Le Graet will write to Kylian Mbappe to remind him of his contractual obligations after the France forward failed to attend a marketing event while on international duty.

“I told him to come down and participate in the operations with the sponsors,” Le Graet told French sports daily L’Equipe on Wednesday.

“At one point he was ready to do so. Then he said: ‘No, I’m not going down’. What do you want to do?”

It was unclear why the 23-year-old Mbappe, who plays for Paris St Germain, did not take part in the photo shoot and who the sponsors were.

The FFF did not respond to a request for comment.

“There will be a letter from the lawyers which will be sent to him and his lawyer,” Le Graet said.

“We are going to see point by point what the problem is. We want to improve things and make people happy, both sponsors and players.”

World champions France play Ivory Coast in a friendly in Marseille on Friday and Le Graet is hoping to discuss the matter with Mbappe who will not be sanctioned.

“Everything that is sanctions always annoys me,” Le Graet said.

“I don’t like that word. But there will be a conversation. And there will be another operation with the sponsors in the autumn, before we go to the World Cup.

“I assure you that by then everything will be settled. There is no arm wrestling. The little worries are part of life. Kylian will be on the pitch in Marseille and I hope he will be good.”
