Mbappe vs Haaland Rivalry for Next 10 Years predicted
Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland are widely expected to be the natural successors to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in the coming years.
The pair are already performing at an exceptional level in the Champions League and their recent exploits has many believing that a rivalry has been ignited after Haaland said Mbappe’s hat-trick against Barcelona motivated him to bag a brace against Sevilla the following night.
Rio Ferdinand reckons both Mbappe and Haaland could be competing for the top prizes for the next ten years, and with that being said, YouTuber ‘LS Plays FM’ decided to see how the rivalry played out on Football Manager 2021.
The overall experiment saw him simulate a whopping 500 years but the focus is on the next decade – and specifically Mbappe vs Haaland.
And it’s Mbappe who comes out on top. The Frenchman wins the next four Ballon d’Ors in a row from 2021 onwards and scores 123 goals in 205 appearances.
Kai Havertz of Chelsea is the man who ends his dominance in 2025, with Mbappe having to make do with a second-placed finish.
However, he comes back fighting and wins the coveted award in the next two years, before trading victories with Fabio Silva.
Mbappe wins a seventh and record-breaking final Ballon d’Or in 2029 at the age of 31, with Portuguese star Silva, now at Barcelona, coming out on top in 2028 and 2030 respectively.
