Messi pushing for Mauro Icardi sell at PSG

In an emerging behind the scene report Lionel Messi is reportedly pushing for the sell of compatriot Mauro Icardi in PSG after falling out with him.

Messi, 34, sealed a free move to PSG back in the summer after being forced to wave an emotional goodbye to Barcelona when his beloved club could not afford to offer him a new contract.

While he is yet to get off the mark in Ligue 1, the six-time Ballon d’Or winner has scored three goals in as many Champions League appearances so far and looks to have settled in well at the Parc des Princes.

However, according to Catalan publication El Nacional, Messi is beginning to cause a divide in the dressing room because of his tense relationship with Icardi.

The report states that their feud stems from Icardi’s bitterness over his recent exclusion from Argentina’s national team, something he blames on La Albiceleste’s captain.

His last cap for Argentina came all the way back in 2018, with the country not short of world-class options in attack.

As well as Messi, Lionel Scaloni has the likes of Sergio Aguero, Lautaro Martinez, Paulo Dybala and Nicolas Gonzalez to choose from upfront, meaning Icardi has been left in the cold.

The 28-year-old is therefore said to have a problem with Messi at PSG, which is contributing to an unharmonious atmosphere behind closed doors.

Reports suggest club officials are considering offloading Icardi in a swap deal for Aguero, Messi’s close friend and long-time Argentina roommate.

Aguero left Manchester City and signed for Barcelona in the summer in the hope of playing alongside his good pal at club level for the first time.

That was before the Barca legend was forced to leave as a result of their financial woes, but he could well be joined by Aguero at PSG in the near future.
